Deodorant
I have been actually using my toothpaste as deodorant for some time now. It happened by mistake as my deodorant jar was sitting next to my toothpaste jar and one morning I ended up putting toothpaste on my pits and brushing my teeth with deodorant! It wasn't a big deal because the primary difference was the essential oils I used in them. I didn't like the taste of brushing my teeth with clary sage, but I did love minty fresh pits. :) My husband recently confessed that he has also ditched his aluminum-containing toxic deodorant and has been using my homemade paste - and he is amazed that it works perfectly!
To get the coconut oil workable I usually store it right above my dehydrator which is usually running. This makes the oil somewhat soft. I don't want it rock hard and I don't want it total liquid either. As the weather changes so does the firmness of both my toothpaste and deodorant and that is just life, but it is hard to mix if it is rock-solid.
Start with 2 Tbsp coconut oil
Mix in 2 Tbsp baking soda and stir well. Add more baking soda until you reach your desired consistency
Add essential oils is desired. Experiment with different combinations and see what you like best here are some variations:
You can also add 15 drops of essential oils or your favorite perfume/cologne to enhance the deodorant!
