Natural Remedies That Harm Part 3: Honey

11/21/2014

We all do things that are unhealthy at times. We might indulge in something we love that isn't great for us in the name of tradition, nostalgia, or just for the flavor. Many people also struggle with eating for comfort and struggling with food emotionally, and I am not exempt from the latter. What I am trying to cover in this series is different. This isn't about things we consume the we KNOW are not good for us but make the choice to proceed despite the consequences, or even take extra measures to detox from our choices. This series is about making very intentional choices to take supplements or perform health practices in an attempt to improve our health, but in reality are doing things that will result in long term harm. So far we've covered coffee enemas and apple cider vinegar. Up next: honey.
Picture
Yes, honey. All natural, sometimes raw, pure, full of bacteriostatic properties, honey...Or should I call it...bee spit.

The issue with honey isn't exactly that it is bee spit. And while it is a sugar - an extremely acidic component that any alkaline striving individual strives to avoid because sugar in ALL forms ferments red blood cells, ferments tissue, feeds cancerous cells and tissues, propagates mold and rot in the body, feeds yeast (another destructive item that should
always be avoided), and contributes to any overall acidic condition - that isn't my primary problem with it, either. The issue with honey is the pathogen content. Bacteriostatic or not, honey is packed full of disease causing pathogens at 150,000 pathogens per gram (or 12,712,500 pathogens per 1/4 cup) of honey!

What do people use honey for? Well, almost anything from sore throats, to weight loss, but 3 major uses according to one
source  include energy, immune system booster, and anti-cancer benefits.

I think if we take a closer look at the last 3, the rest will also become clear... It is easy to understand why honey, just as any other sugar, would give a surge of energy, but I don't think we will be too easily fooled that consuming sugar for energy, even if it is honey, will solve our fatigue issues. Immune system booster: this is deceiving. Many foods considered immune boosters are wildly misunderstood. When errant "old biology" looks at the blood after consuming a food that results in increased white blood cell formation, it takes that to mean that the increase in white blood cells is a benefit resulting from eating the food. It is definitely a result of eating the food, but not because the food gave a healthy boost to our immune system. IT IS BECAUSE THE FOOD EATEN WAS SO FILTHY THE BODY NEEDED TO MAKE AN AMPLE AMOUNT OF WHITE BLOOD CELLS TO CLEAN UP THE MESS! I have heard it said about eggs, too. After the initial eye roll and palm to forehead, now my body just automatically goes into a hung head shake. Along with the need to clean up the rot as the sugar in honey ferments the cells, the 150,000 pathogens per gram of honey there is a load to clean up before it can even start with the aftermath. Sure, everything has pathogens, but compare whole vegan foods including veggies, fruits, legumes, nuts, seeds,  and sprouted grains which average 10 pathogens per gram. An entire meal of raw such whole foods caps off at around 500 pathogens. Just an added note, 1 egg contains about 37,500,000 pathogens.

As for the anti-cancer claims...this is also misconstrued. The claim is actually that the antioxidants found in honey are anti-cancer, and therefore by reason the honey must be also. Any antioxidants found in honey are in trace amounts and would by no means combat the sugar content that feeds cancerous cells or the pathogen content forcing the body to work hard to clean up the mess.

Any claim that honey-pushers boast can be more quickly accomplished by true alkalizing. But what, you might ask, sugar CAN I use if even the health boasting natural honey is so bad? So, what sugar do I use when I do use sugar? Well, not agave. According to Dr. Young (and many others) agave is a neurotoxin and in a personal conversation with me he also said it was a toss-up as to which was worse: agave or white sugar! Stevia is a good option, raw unrefined coconut sugar and coconut nectar are nice options, and I also use dates and/or maple syrup when I am using a sugar. I am by no means recommending that these are alkaline to use, and especially not saying that we can add them to the use freely list of foods, but when I do use sugar, these are the ones I choose.

Here is an indulgent sweet treat that I developed this week as a vegan alternative "dressing" for Waldorf Salad: Simple Cinnamon Yogurt. And with it comes a clue for my next Harmful Remedies post. This 5 ingredient "yogurt" is a super fast and non-fermented version of yogurt with cinnamon as the star. It also just so happens that cinnamon actually does have health benefitting properties including that it helps buffer the acid sugar, not to mention it is delicious!

This morning, I sent you a message asking where I can find the Simple Cinnamon Yogurt recipe. That was because when I clicked on the name of the recipe at the end of your article, it said "404 - page not found." I found it later, though, so I don't need you to show me where it is now. I just think you'll want to fix the link.

I normally do not respond to blogs or make comments, however in this case I am making an exception. I understand some concerns you mentioned in regards to honey, where I disagree with you is in regards to my faith in Christ, and as you mentioned, you also being a disciple of Christ. I believe were were created in Gods image and the bible clearly says that God regards honey to be good for us. He is the one who encourages us to eat the stuff. My take on this is; whatever scientific or any other study that has been done is voided when God says it is "OK" to consume! Peter

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the comment!
I also believe we are created in God's image. And I agree with you that anything man or "science" says is most certainly trumped by God's Word. And God's word says that it is OK to consume honey, and that it tastes good.

Proverbs 24:13
My son, eat honey, for it is good,
and the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste.

Proverbs 25:16
If you have found honey, eat only enough for you,
lest you have your fill of it and vomit it.

Proverbs 25:27
It is not good to eat much honey,
nor is it glorious to seek one's own glory.

Based on these scriptures it would seem that honey tastes good, but it does not offer health benefits. In addition, I imagine that the honey found pre-monsanto was not as harmful as the honey we have now. And back when people were not afflicted with diseases and damage from vaccines, and all their food was organic, and they were much less devolved than we are now, people could enjoy a bit more acidic items such as meat or honey before they suffered ill health from them. Keeping in mind though, they did experience ill health from food choices at least to some degree. A great example of this and also of God permitting certain things that were not necessarily representative of His best for people is eating meat. Prior to the flood they were not permitted to consume meat and after the flood when they were permitted the life span plummeted drastically.

Paul reminds us 1 Corinthians 6:12 that "all things are lawful but not all things are helpful".

I just chanced upon your series of posts by chance. I do not normally reply but I felt I wanted to in this case only because the whole topic of 'God' came into the picture. I can see how you are also very passionate about new biology and all that is says. So I am sure that you are also not going easily agree is someone gave you proof that your thinking was wrong.

When it comes to eating I can see how eating anything these days can be a problem because you can find a LOT of supporting information for just about anything you want.Vegan diets can be good and Vegan diets can be bad. Vaccines are good and vaccines are bad.Meat is good and meat is bad. Science has been changing what is thinks is true or false everyday. Tomorrow your new biology will be replaced by even newer biology. But you know what is always true? The WORD OF GOD! It never changes and is not dependent on time, place, era, science,or organic status of anything. When God said something in the bible he meant it. No conditions. Period. I only came to understand this very recently and that is why I really want to share it here. So I hope that we believers in God put more trust in our Lord. Spend more time doing his work that on wondering what to eat and what not to eat. We thank God for the food he gives us, we do the best we can, we ask God to bless our food and we believe that our God takes care of us. So long as everything we do is for God's glory.

Hi, and thanks for the comment.

I agree with you in part...because science is never settled. New Biology is not finished and in it we are also learning more about how the body actually functions and heals.

But there is an actual truth. Things are either beneficial it not, harmful or not. And we should thank God for what He provides, including information. We can serve Him in more ways when we are healthy. We should be good stewards of our bodies. I have had the honor of helping mama's heal so they could be here for their little ones.

We need to be careful not to throw our hands up at conflicting information and say "oh well, we can't know, let's just enjoy thankfully" as opposed to praying through information and making choices that might be hard because we end up crucifying our cravings. It is easier on the decent side of health to say "who knows, being thankful is most important" - and don't get me wrong, it is. We are commanded to always be thankful. But we can also use it as an excuse to make poor choices. And when we do, living life on the cancer end of poor choices is no picnic. Most wish they would have known how to prevent it and would turn back time if they could to do it over.

Reading U'r writings, some are preposterous! some OK. It's obvious U follow Man, rather than God. God promised His children a land flowing with milk & honey. 1 Samuel 14, So much SPIT, it was dropping to the ground. Jonathan won victory by taking just a bite of God's "Bee Spit". For U to say that Honey harms our body, then refer US to a 'source' that tells US it's "Anti-cancer" & to take "Milk and honey", That is being a hypocrite! Sorry, yet true! U are saying: "You do as I say, not as I do" As if you do not wish to do as U do, but U have to stick to what U are trying to make US believe. U'r heart is not wholly in what you are doing. U are like church denominations teaching garbage, for the $$, and people gobble it in to their own destruction. They'll wish one day they had done as Jonathan, partook of God's Bee Spit "Words" and search the bible (net) to get the Truth that sets FREE, and not obey & pay a human god. = God willing, the 21st of Dec., my husband & I will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We both are cancer survivors. We give God all Praise! = U can't; No one can't; Nor I can't go without My HONEY! "SPIT"! I take "bee spit" in a drink I make with Fresh Whole Leaf Aloe Vera, and other natural remedies also (that you think harms me), but is said to cure cancer. I do not believe either of us have a trace of cancer today. My husband is not on any prescriptions. I take 1, 1x daily. = God Bless You, & may U'r eyes be enlightened by taking Jonathan (God's Word) as your example. No One can live without SPIT! Period!!! Try it if you THINK you can! Funny!
